Lisa Corcoran, MS

My Therapeutic Approach

  • I love working with adults who understand their patterns intellectually but still feel caught in them. I’m especially passionate about helping people bridge the gap between knowing why they do something and actually feeling able to do something different.

  • I work with people experiencing anxiety, shame, people-pleasing, burnout, and the lasting effects of complex trauma. My approach is grounded in compassion, openness, and a belief that understanding where our patterns come from can help us begin to relate to ourselves differently.

  • My approach is warm, curious, and honest. Together, we’ll slow down and listen to what your emotions, body, and protective patterns may be trying to communicate.

  • You are not broken. The patterns you find difficult and frustrating often developed for a reason. Healing begins when we meet them with curiosity rather than judgment.

Lisa especially enjoys working with adults who understand their patterns intellectually but still feel stuck repeating them. Her clients may feel disconnected from themselves, overwhelmed by anxiety, caught in cycles of overthinking and people-pleasing, or exhausted from carrying roles that no longer fit.

Rather than focusing only on managing symptoms, Lisa helps clients gently explore the experiences and beliefs underneath them to understand why certain patterns developed in the first place. Her style is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded, with room for both depth and humor. She believes therapy should feel like a place where you can exhale, become curious about your inner world, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been waiting to be heard.

Lisa has a BSW from Union Institute University and an MS in Psychology from Grand Canyon University. She has training in complex trauma, somatic parts work, mindfulness, and compassionate inquiry. Her clinical experience includes working at a community clinic, where she facilitated intensive outpatient groups and provided individual therapy to people navigating trauma and addictions, as well as those experiencing panic and agoraphobia. She also has experience providing crisis support in an emergency room setting. Lisa is passionate about helping adults understand and heal patterns connected to trauma, anxiety, shame, imposter syndrome, and burnout. Her work is informed by parts work, somatic awareness, mindfulness, and compassionate inquiry. As an Army veteran, Lisa also brings firsthand understanding of military culture and the complex ways our experiences can shape identity, relationships, and overall well-being.
