Antonia Posey, MAC QMHP

My therapeutic approach:

  • Beginning healing is a continuous, and oftentimes winding journey. At times progress can feel fast or slow – the pace at which you “arrive” is not important. Rather your commitment to show up for yourself, makes all the difference. My commitment as a counselor is to be there alongside you to provide guidance and support along the way.
  • Our life experiences, trauma, and even day-to-day busyness or burnout can result in disconnection from ourselves. Therapy provides a safe space to rediscover ourselves and get in touch with the more creative, intuitive aspects of our nature.
  • Many of us have gone through life – at times through circumstances beyond our control – feeling a lack of agency in our own lives. My aim as a counselor is to help you discover your own power, by addressing emotional and mental blocks that prevent you from living an empowered and fulfilling life.

Antonia Posey is a therapist, with her masters in Mental Health Counseling from Lakeland University. Antonia uses an integrated approach that focuses on recognizing personal strengths, increasing self-awareness, and tapping into the healing powers of creativity and the unconscious through art, dreamwork and mindfulness. Building on a strong, empathetic connection with her clients, Antonia focuses on issues such as communication, blocked creativity, and identity. While challenges such as these may greatly impact our day-to-day existence, Antonia’s belief is that our innate capacity for resilience and ability to effect change in our own lives is limitless. Antonia meets clients where they are at, without judgment, and with a sincere commitment to work together towards growth and meaningful change.

Law Enforcement and First Responders:

Antonia Posey is a student counselor-in-training obtaining her masters in mental health counseling at Lakeland University. She specializes in counseling law enforcement, first responders and their families. Prior to becoming a counselor, Antonia was a police officer working in every facet of the profession, spending most of tenure on the street as a Patrol Officer and Accident Investigator. Her time in policing makes her uniquely qualified to understand the intense and difficult circumstances police officers face, and the impacts those demands have on their personal health and well-being. Her goal is to reduce the fear and stigma first responders may face when seeking counseling services, as well as provide behavioral treatments, group therapy, and one-on-one counseling that is mindful of police work and its many demands.

Police officers and their families need counseling that recognizes the high-demand/low-control nature of police-work, and the high stress level that may negatively impact their physical and mental health. Antonia utilizes a variety of evidence-based techniques and methods to treat stress, anxiety, and PTSD with a focus on increasing mindfulness, and resilience and improving personal relationships – to help individuals be the best they can be.
